I just discovered that MTV offers free music downloads. You can check out the available songs here.
The songs are in the .mp3 format and have a bitrate of 128 kbps (not great, really, but after all it’s free!). You need to do some tagging after importing them into iTunes, but then you can dowload the cover art as well.
