Yesterday I found some .flac files on a hard drive I didn’t even know I still had. It seems that ages ago, when I was still a Windows user, I backed my audio cd’s up … and good that I did, because I lost one during a move and another one got scratched badly when I lent it to someone (since then, I don’t give away hard copies any more!).
Anyway, I thought I’d put those files in my iTunes library, but hey … my Mac didn’t like the file format. …

Ah, it’s finally Saturday. Not that it means very much. With my deadline for my final thesis only 6 weeks from now (as my collegues at work were constantly reminding me yesterday, thanks!) I will continue writing today, but at least I took the liberty of sleeping in … meaning until about 8.30 am.
And I took the time to browse the iTunes Store again, looking for some new music. I love music, I listen to it all day at home or on my iPod. And today I discovered two artists …

I just couldn’t go to bed early so I did another (yeah, I know) wallpaper and to make sure no one can call me biased, I did one on Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari from Babylon 5).

Okay, I had an eye-opener over at the Star Trek forum. It seems that the other fans send in their wallpapers at the beginning of FedCon (to the organizer of the FedCon) and they will be shown there. Now, that’s a challenge for my ego :D So far I thought we were just killing time and trying to impress each other. So I did another one dedicated to Bruce Boxleitner now … not his TV character Sheridan, but the real man. Though the quote of course is from Babylon 5’s …

*deep intake of breath*
I was just roaming the B5 Moderated Discussion Group when I stumbled across an entry regarding an US American soldier, Major Andrew Olmsted, who died in Iraq and whose last blogging post was published – according to his wishes – by a friend.
You should read it. It’s as simple as this.
If you need other reasons: Everyone should have principles in their lives, and Major Olmsted certainly did. And in his last words he explains them exceptionally well and gives a suprisingly amusing and deeply touching account of …

Have you ever gone through a time in your life that you felt comes pretty close to what hell must be like? I guess so – if not, you are incredibly lucky.
Fate struck me last year … and it struck me hard and more than once. On September 8, 2007, I received the news that a friend had died. He was just 22 years old and died when his car got off the road and hit a tree … the only tree in about 30-40 yards around. Why? We don’t …

In the German Star Trek Board there is a thread where people with too much time on their hands can show off their artwork related to the upcoming FedCon XVII and its guests. There are some real gems among them and if you’re a fan of a star coming to this years convention, I encourage you to check the thread out.
I myself contributed five wallpapers so far (1400×900, widescreen) of my third-favorite SciFi character, Captain/President John Sheridan of “Babylon 5″ and of course I didn’t leave Peter Jurasik (Ambassador/Emperor Londo …

Sometimes, booking cheap doesn’t really save you money … or nerves!
Take me, for example. I booked my flights to the FedCon via eBookers … don’t ask why I didn’t go directly to Germanwings (since eBookers did just that and I had to pay an extra fee of 15 Euros), I guess I was too excited to think straight.
As it turns out, my return flight from Bonn to Dresden already leaves at 4pm on Sunday. Not really good timing, since that would require me to leave the convention at 2pm to …
