Constellation Awards – Boxleitner nominated

15 July 2008 278 views 11 Comments

Update: Well, the winners are finally announced. Will Smith beat Bruce Boxleitner, but like I mentioned earlier I think it’s a great that our (yes, I am generalizing, I know) favorite Pres got nominated among those big screen stars. Batch will probably be happy to know that »Doctor Who« won in at least two categories.

Constellation AwardsBruce Boxleitner, to many known as his character Capt./President Sheridan of the tv show »Babylon 5«, is nominated for Best Male Performance in a 2007 Science Fiction Film, TV Movie, or Mini-Series for his acting in »The Lost Tales« by the Constellation Awards (”Canada’s Fan Awards for Excellence in Science Fiction Television and Film”). YAY!

Not only is JMS’ newest addition to the B5 universe recognized, but Bruce Boxleitner is up against some amazing competition, including Daniel Craig, Shia Leboeuf, and Will Smith!

I think it’s a huge honor to be nominated amongst those great actors and I really, really hope that Bruce wins. We’ll know after this weekend, so keep your fingers crossed on July 11-12!

Here you can see all nominees for 2008:

I still haven’t seen “Babylon 5: The Lost Tales”. Is it worth the money? I mean, the reviews vary from exceptionally good to abysmal. Some criticize allegedly cheap-looking sets, others find the screenplay uninspired. I don’t really know whom to believe.

Of course, as I have yet to watch “The Lost Tales”, I cannot comment on Boxleitners nomination. Wish him all the best, though.

To be completely honest, I haven’t seen TLT either. I didn’t get around to do it when I finished my first complete run through the B5 universe and now I want to re-watch the whole show before I have a look at the movie (I am the definition of a sequential watcher ;) ).
But may tschilai, klti or Batch can say something?

    Thanks, klti!

BTW: I am so jealous that your gravatar is shown and mine not (yet). It has taken me half an hour out to figure out why you have a picture on my website and I don’t! Now I keep waiting for my gravatar to show up. *imaptient*

TLT are IMHO not perfect, but they are nice Stuff for B5-Fans. They actually consist of 2 stories, the first one (Lockley on B5) has been ok and had a nice idea in it, but nothing special. I liked the second one (Sheridan) much more, as this story had actually had significant impact on the possible future after TLT. But thats just my 0.02 €.

Oh, I forgot one thing which I liked about TLT: State of the Art CGI, Babylon 5 (the space station) looks so much better, it actually makes you realize how old the original tv show is.

Well, it’s a pity that Bruce Boxleitner didn’t make it. Congratulations, though, to Will Smith, who is also a great actor. :)

And to be honest: his performance in »I am Legend« was stellar! He did an awesome job.

    WOOOOHOOOO!

    Uhh.. I mean… sorry for Bruce :(.

But now: WOOOOHOOO! (or better “Whoooohooo? ;) )

Tennant Best Male in a SciFi-Episode! Well, Human Nature / Family of Blood was indeed a very good opportunity for him to shine.

Carey “Sally Sparrow” Mulligan Best Female Performance! Whoaaahhh. “Blink” is still my favourite (stand alone) episode (should’ve won the best script award too, only because of the wibbely wobbely, timey wimey stuff), and Carey is at least partially responsible. Sally Sparrow for companion in Series 5!

Aaand Doctor Who Best SciFi-Show. Ha! In your face, Supernatural, Jericho, Stargate Atlantis, Chuck and… erm… well… *cough*BSG*cough*.

3 Awards, 1 more than Transformers… I guess we have a clear winner :). And a clear looser. Being BSG… nominated in 5 categories and no hit. Pity.

Sorry for abusing this post for celebration. Going back to watch very old episodes of the Doctor now….

Batch, you are forgiven (and I am glad I could give you a reason to celebrate), but only if you continue to entertain me with your hilarious summaries of the old episodes. :D

She totaly deserves that. I rewatched Blink a few weeks ago – still the best Doc episode, maybe except Army of Ghosts/Doomsday

    Chuck == SciFi ??? 8O

Chuck has a computer database downloaded in his brain. That seems sci-fi to me!
