The first time I actually bought a DVD in a long time and I decided to finally watch one of my favorite movies in English.
Regarding HenryHenry, a power hungry lawyer without a conscience, survives a shooting – only to loose his memory and his ability to walk and talk. Painstakingly he finds his way back, only to realize that he doesn’t want to be who he was. My comment:This is one of my all time favorite movies and one of the reasons I am such a huge Harrison Ford fan. …

Inside ManThe perfect bank robbery. My comment:You have to watch this one! It’s fun, it’s action, it’s drama. And you will gape open mouthed at the screen at the end because you HAVEN’T seen it coming.

Clive Owen and his gang commit a bank robbery, only they are unlike any criminals which Denzel Washington’s character (a demoralized cop) ever had to deal with: they don’t seem to care for the overwhelming police force outside and they are always one step ahead of them. In addition Washington has to deal with politicians breathing …

GreenfingersA prison inmate with a green thumb goes on to compete in a national gardening competition. Based on a true story. My comment:This is a real gem: a quite movie that has it all: drama, love, comedy and a lesson to teach.

Clive Owen plays a prison inmate (Colin) who discovers – by accident – his passion for gardening. Inspired by his fellow inmate, old and sick Fergus (magnificent: Davin Kelley), he infects other inmates with his enthusiasm and together they set out to participate in a very important gardening competition which …

Crimson Rivers (1/2)#1
Two French policemen, one investigating a grisly murder at a remote mountain college, the other working on the desecration of a young girl’s grave by skinheads, are brought together by the clues from their respective cases. Soon after they start working together, more murders are committed, and the pair begin to discover just what dark secrets are behind the killings.

#2
Pierre Niemans faces the threat of the apocalypse while investigating a series of ritual murders.
My comment:Both movies are excellent, while the first one is – in my opinion …

The BodyA crucified body dated back to the 1st century A.D is uncovered at an ancient cave in Jerusalem. Due to certain marks on the body and specifica of the tomb suspicion arises that it might be the body of Jesus – which, according to the teachings of the church must not be!
Various parties begin to a deadly struggle, not all for truth, but all for power. In the middle of things are the Israeli archeologist Sharon Golban and Father Matt Guiterrez, send by the Vatican. My comment:This is a very …

Shoot ‘Em UpA man named Mr. Smith delivers a woman’s baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen. (From imdb) My comment:This movie taught me a lesson: I never thought I’d enjoy a movie as violent as this one, but I did!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like violence (I am actually the sissy that clasps her hands in front of her eyes quite often), but in this movie the violence is mashed up with such an amount of black …

This morning, a colleague send me over to www.web.de where some editor got a little mixed up. The heading said “Obama’s emotional acceptance speech”, but the picture placed next to the article stirred up an emotion of a different kind. About half an hour later, the error was corrected.
Probably the editor just wanted to point out that politics can be quite arousing as well ;)

AFTER

There’s another humorous picture that I found today (on my own, this time) and which reminded me of Jarsto’s rant about monitor settings. Since it’s also …

10 year anniversary

I just realized it’s 2008. August. Almost to the day ten years ago I flew to the US to start my year as an exchange student. It was the best year in my life so far.

I started school in Greenville, Michigan, at GHS – Greenville High School, our school mascot was the yellow jacket. On my first day of school I was declared a senior, picked my courses and my adventure began. My classes were awesome, my fellow students quickly became good friends and my teachers were incredibly friendly and …
