Acoustic Pleasures (3)
It’s time again to do your ears some good so hear are my recommendations for this week:
First off is “My Day So Far” by John Powell from the Motion Picture Soundtrack “Jumper”. While movie itself (starring Hayden Christiansen) is boring to the point of sleep inducing, the very first track that is played when the movie opens is pretty cool, especially the first 10-20 seconds. Luckily, iTunes could still my thirst for this track immediately. [iTunes Link]
Next are two songs by one of my favorite bands, Lifehouse. I thought that I already owned all songs by them, but thanks to the new iTunes 8 feature Genius I found two additional songs. One of them is “Good Enough” from the soundtrack “The Wild” [iTunes Link]. Beautifully soothing and typical Lifehouse-sound. The second track is called “If This Is Goodbye” [iTunes Link]. It’s a little more into rock, but still a pleasure to listen to. Especially the refrain. Sends shivers down my spine every time.
Now follows a confession … back in the nineties I was a huge, huge, huge fan of a certain US TV show called “Chicago Hope“. And it brought an actor to my attention that until today remains one of my favorite TV actors, Mandy Patinkin (who is a gifted singer as well, by he way, and starred in shows like “Dead Like Me”, “Criminal Minds”). Anyway, since I cannot get the series on DVD (why?!?), I decided to at least get the main title. You won’t believe how many beautiful memories that brings back
The second pleasure I gave in to is the opening title of “Quantum Leap“, another series from the days of childhood (I am really getting old). I recently bought the first season on DVD from Amazon (it was just €9.99) and couldn’t resist to get the track. [iTunes Link]
The last sin I have to confess revolves around Joshua Radin, whom I have mentioned previously already. He came out with a new album, “Simple Times” [iTunes Link]. Two of the songs (”Sky” and “You’ve got growing up to do”) are from previous records. The other songs are refreshing mix of soothing, relaxing melodies and uptempo, fun songs. The perfect album to put on on a sunny weekend day, sit out on the balcony or in the garden and relax. Highly recommended.
