Sleeping In Light – 10th anniversary

+++ Update +++

I uploaded the images to the appropriate gallery. Please find them here, now.

+++++++++++

Honoring the occasion, I decided to skip NaNo today and create some wallpapers for the 10th anniversary of the airing of “Sleeping in Light”, the final episode of the TV show »Babylon 5«. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of SIL while making these and I had to fight back the tears a couple of times. Reading through script book vol. 11 for quotes didn’t help much either.

But I think it was worth it, least of all because the show and this episode mean a lot to me. Who’s been following my blog knows that I went through a pretty rough time and it were those characters and that compelling story that kept me sane and gave me hope.

Sorry for the clumsy way of implementing the pictures, but my gallery plugin is not working properly right now. When you mouse over the pictures, you can see if they are for normal screens (1280×1024)(the first six images) or wide screens (1400×900). They are all different, even though the previews are tiny. Sorry again.

Hope you enjoy them and keep B5 in you heart.

    Damn, I’m too slow, I’m only at Episode 5×02 in my personal B5 marathon, would have been really cool timing.

    True. I had to postpone my marathon due to work and the NaNo, but I originally wanted to watch SIL last night. But since I only managed to upload the pictures a minute or so before midnight and I was already emotionally drained from reliving the episode when going through the screen shots multiple times, I called it a night. Apart from that, I have no idea where my kleenex are so watching SIL was not a good idea anyway. I need a full box beside me before I push the play button.

    BTW, how does B5 look on that gorgeous monitor of yours?

    Varies heavily, you can definitifely see the age in some scenes. Non-Space CGI-Shots like the park on B5 or Planets and such look really cheap & ugly, something I never noticed when I watched them for the first time. Most of scenes are ok, though. And seeing the white star fleet in its full formation for the first time in that size – rocks 8).

    Nice images. Part of me can’t believe it’s been a full decade already. Of course making all these means you’ve given me time to get some more distance between us on the NaNoWriMo front. Granted I didn’t make very good use of it, but you did give me the time ;)

    Taking advantage of a quiet moment at work to make this reply. I’ve got you covered. Managed 600 words during a break at work thanks to my folding keyboard.

    Oh, that’s so not fair! I was up to my ears in work, from 8am until almost 7pm. The only thing I managed was to set a new record for my latte macchiato consuptions (4 in one day, usually only two). But when you have only three days to prepare a workshop on a huge topic for one of the biggest automotive companies, you kind of need the caffeine to stay focused. Unfortunately, this kind of work renders you braindead too. But I am fighting for my wordcount! Already got 2,165 in 70 minutes and I intend to write until just before midnight.
