R.I.P. “The First Lady of Star Trek”

The Roddenberrys
Majel Roddenberry, widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, has passed beyond the Rim on December 18 at the age of 76. She lost the battle against leukemia at her home in Bel-Air. Her family was with her. (Official homepage)
For me as a science fiction fan, the name Roddenberry is as deeply connected to the genre as is the name Juri Gagarin in the science community associated with space travel. The Star Trek universe has been a constant for me since I started to watch TV.
Majel Barrett Roddenberry was known not only for her roles in her husbands own creation, but she also tried to bridge the gap between ST and B5 fans by appearing in Staczynski’s Babylon 5 universe as Lady Morella, wife of the deceased Centauri emperor, and the Great Maker gifted her with one of his greatest lines:
“There is always choice. We say there is no choice only to comfort ourselves with the decision we have already made. If you understand that, there’s hope. If not ..”
– Lady Morella, Babylon 5, »Point of no return«
Rest in peace, Majel. If there is a place beyond the Rim, I hope you found your husband waiting there for you.

And I didn’t even know she was sick.

There is only one thing to say: I grieve with thee.

Yes, it is indeed sad, but now let us celebrate the life she had.
All the incarnations of Star Trek and a beautiful performance in B5.
I am happy she made both.

[...] Starstuff I will quote the wonderful line she was given by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski : [...]
