Huh? What’s with the “Rule TwentyNine” stuff?

As the quote in the header shows, it’s something from my favorite SciFi show, Babylon 5. Captain Sheridan, the guy in charge of a 5 mile long space station, tells that to his officers. I thought it is kind of cool, since there is wisdom in this. And let’s face it … I wanted a domain name that had a connection to Babylon 5 and the other things I came up with were already taken ;)

And that name you use, Starstuff?

Well, guess what – another quote! :) Same show, different character. Ambassador Delenn (yes, they have ambassadors from different species) talks to Sheridan about the meaning and purpose of life (From the episode »A Distant Star«):

“The molecules of your body are the same molecules that make up this station, and the nebula outside. They burn inside the stars themselves. We are starstuff. We are the universe, made manifest, trying to figure itself out.”

You sure you ain’t a little crazy?

Well, actually, I don’t know. I guess everyone has an obsession with something and mine is with this TV show (among other things). As my blog tells you (if you read this entry), the TV show helped through a difficult time in my life and obviously I am not the only one who thinks that there is often times a deeper meaning to the things said and done.

Why politics and environment?

Because they matter. I don’t want to be a passive bystander while the world is being shaped by people who sometimes do not have the necessary ethics or knowledge to do the job. I want to be informed, I want to have a well informed opinion, I want to use my right to speak out against and for things that concern me.
As for the environment … same thing. I do believe we as humankind do have an effect on the environment and I want to get people thinking about it.
You are welcome to disagree … but let’s battle with arguments, not ideologies.

Yes :) Well, I got fed up with Microsoft … re-installing my computer a couple times a year doesn’t really qualify as a hobby in my book. So I switched. And so far, I am absolutely happy with my choice. And sometimes I stumble across cool things that I like to share with other Mac users …
