While the excitement about the visit of the US president mounts, I have to exercise an enormous amount of self control not to tweet and blog every little detail I notice. Apart from the fact that probably no one except me is excited about it (even though some colleagues have been seen lurking at the windows longer than usual), I also don’t want to write anything that might make the job of the people in charge more difficult.
Only a few weeks ago irresponsible use of Twitter caused a major uproar …
If you are like me and are a little fanatic when it comes to beautifying your iTunes library, you might find my iTunes covers interesting. My main objective is to make different seasons of shows more distinguishable, therefore I put season numbering on the covers. Which character I put there is totally arbitrary, though, and completely my taste. No deeper meaning behind it. Enjoy, and if you want a cover for a specific show done, just write me.

Only six days to go until the US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle visit my hometown, Dresden (Germany). Excitement is mounting, since it’s not everyday that one get’s to see a statesman of that order. (And one for whom one was rooting during the campaign – at least after Hillary gave up.)
The most intriguing question for me and my colleagues is though: will be able to come to work? Published today, the map below shows that the inner city of Dresden has been divided into multiple secure zones …

I joined Twitter a couple of weeks ago and discovered to my delight that some of the actors and politicians I like have accounts there. Among others, I follow David Hewlett, Dr. McKay of Stargate Atlantis. Usually I only read and don’t reply … really, what I am to say to people like them. And they probably get …
Those who know me and read here often know that I am more than a little sceptic when it comes to religion, especially to institutionalized religion. Which just means that during the Bush era, I was constantly appalled, shocked and disgusted at the way the former president utilized and abused faith to justify his lust for power.
But I had no idea how bad it really was … though, through research, I had already learned that Bush was living so deeply in an enclosed space (where information that his advisers didn’t …
First off one or two warnings: a) this report will feature men without pants (yes, I am using the plural for a reason) and b) it will be more like a picture story. No real, deep content here. For my German readers: much like a BILD special issue
John Billingsley, to us scifi geeks best known as Dr. Phlox of Enterprise, had already made himself stand out from the other actors during the opening ceremony. He came out on stage, wearing a black shirt with Marc B. Lee’s …
‘Highly anticipated, mostly dreaded.’
That pretty much sums up how I felt about the movie since it was announced. I am not a Trekkie, but I love Star Trek since it was my first contact with the genre of science fiction. The original Trek and the re-imagination with Scott Bakula as Captain Archer are my favorite Treks.
And then I was seeing the first screen shots from the new picture, with all those kids that vaguely resembled the original crew. My first impression was: “Oh my Kosh, it’s kindergarden in space!” I …
… you read your RSS headlines, stumble across the news “Atlantis ready to return to Earth” and don’t think about NASA and Hubble, but about the show finale of Stargate Atlantis.
