Ok, in this entry I wrote how I searched for software to convert some .flac files on the Mac. Well, either I read the description of the app I recommended then not attentively enough … it doesn’t start anymore, that’s the problem I was faced with a couple of days ago. I thought that after the trial period some functions would remain, only the variety of files that could be handled would be limited. Yesterday I found some .flac files on a hard drive I didn’t even know I still had. It seems that ages ago, when I was still a Windows user, I backed my audio cd’s up … and good that I did, because I lost one during a move and another one got scratched badly when I lent it to someone (since then, I don’t give away hard copies any more!).
Anyway, I thought I’d put those files in my iTunes library, but hey … my Mac didn’t like the file format. …

So, nun seid ihr endlich soweit eure eigenen Filme in iTunes einfügen zu können … aber wie bearbeitet man die Beschreibung (Description) ?
Bei Filmen, die direkt aus dem iTS herunter geladen wurden, ist sie bereits enthalten, kann aber auch nicht mehr bearbeitet werden. Bevor ihr es versucht: Das Kommentarfeld führt auch nicht zum Ziel.
Was euch weiterhelfen wird ist dieses Script von Doug. Installiert es (wo und wie steht im Readme), dann startet iTunes. Markiert den Film, dessen Beschreibung ihr ändern wollt und klickt auf das Script Symbol in der Taskleiste. …

Das Problem
Man hat Videos unterschiedlichster Formate auf der Festplatte liegen, viele ein Überbleibsel der Windows-Zeit. iTunes tut sich aber mit .avi’s oder gar .mkv’s schwer: Es importiert diese Files nicht in seine Mediathek und so kann man die Filme nicht über iTunes verwalten, geschweige denn in Frontrow betrachten.
Eine Möglichkeit wäre natürlich, diese Filme in ein Format umzuwandeln, welches iTunes beherrscht (beispielsweise .mov oder .mp4). Das dauert aber seine Zeit und ist ausserdem oftmals mit Qualitätseinbußen verbunden.
