‘Highly anticipated, mostly dreaded.’
That pretty much sums up how I felt about the movie since it was announced. I am not a Trekkie, but I love Star Trek since it was my first contact with the genre of science fiction. The original Trek and the re-imagination with Scott Bakula as Captain Archer are my favorite Treks.
And then I was seeing the first screen shots from the new picture, with all those kids that vaguely resembled the original crew. My first impression was: “Oh my Kosh, it’s kindergarden in space!” I …

Love the book. Love the movie.
Usually I dislike book adaptions; they twist the story until it will appeal to a wide spectrum of an audience and the beauty of the printed pages just gets lost. So I was especially sceptic when one of my all time favorite books was transferred to the big screen.I first stumbled upon ‘PS: I love you’ the year it was released. A friend lend it to me, back then it was the German edition. And boy, did it make an impression on me.
The story focusses …

These reviews have been sitting on my draft shelf now for over two months and I think I get them finally out here. The reviews are spoiler free if not marked otherwise.
Aeon Flux
Futuristic movie about a post-industrial society that lives in the only remaining city on Earth. It looks like paradise, but strange things happen and a group of resistance fighters is trying to assassinate the leader of the remains of the human race. Aeon Flux, part of the resistance, is assigned that task.
The special effects are very nice and …

Well, it’s this time of year and even though snow is scarce in this region of mine, I don’t give up hope for a white christmas. And to get into christmas spirit without the winter wonderland around me, there are a couple of movies I like to watch in this season because they capture the spirit and make me feel all warm and fuzzy.
The “Santa Clause” Trilogy
Those are for fun. The concept is fresh and the way the stories develop is surprising enough to be entertaining. It might not be …

By pure accident I discovered yesterday that the current Indy movie would be playing in OV (original version, meaning in English) at my local movie theatre. My brain just took control of the my hands and purchased tickets online.
I just couldn’t pass up the chance to watch Indiana Jones on the big screen. The other three feature films came out when I was too young to go and see them. But Harrison Ford on the big screen … that was a no brainer. I absolutely adore him; he looks amazing …

The first time I actually bought a DVD in a long time and I decided to finally watch one of my favorite movies in English.
Regarding HenryHenry, a power hungry lawyer without a conscience, survives a shooting – only to loose his memory and his ability to walk and talk. Painstakingly he finds his way back, only to realize that he doesn’t want to be who he was. My comment:This is one of my all time favorite movies and one of the reasons I am such a huge Harrison Ford fan. …

Inside ManThe perfect bank robbery. My comment:You have to watch this one! It’s fun, it’s action, it’s drama. And you will gape open mouthed at the screen at the end because you HAVEN’T seen it coming.
Clive Owen and his gang commit a bank robbery, only they are unlike any criminals which Denzel Washington’s character (a demoralized cop) ever had to deal with: they don’t seem to care for the overwhelming police force outside and they are always one step ahead of them. In addition Washington has to deal with politicians breathing …

GreenfingersA prison inmate with a green thumb goes on to compete in a national gardening competition. Based on a true story. My comment:This is a real gem: a quite movie that has it all: drama, love, comedy and a lesson to teach.
Clive Owen plays a prison inmate (Colin) who discovers – by accident – his passion for gardening. Inspired by his fellow inmate, old and sick Fergus (magnificent: Davin Kelley), he infects other inmates with his enthusiasm and together they set out to participate in a very important gardening competition which …
