Alright, I’ll keep this short. I wrote more than 10K today! To be exact, it were 10,891 words. Whew! That was quite a ride (and I apologize to my FMC who had to suffer greatly through this). Now my fingers are somewhat wobbly and typing without errors is getting increasingly demanding. Having reached my daily goal and being quite brain dead for it I can stop writing before 11pm, the first time in 18 days. This really does feel like vacation. Oh wait, I am on vacation! I think I …

Spending hours upon hours hunched behind the keyboard, eyes burning from exhaustion, fingers freezing…these are the times when great revelations happen. At least that’s what I thought when I started writing my story 18 days ago. But, truth be told, it’s not quite like that.
The writing process comes in two shapes for me: the easy one and the hard one. The easy one is when everything just clicks and I type and type and type and the words just keep coming. These are the moments when I need to go …

Woah, what a sprint in the last hour! This time, I didn’t go for words, but I really wanted to finish this particular chapter. But let’s start at the beginning.
Since I did quite some writing yesterday, my neck and shoulders were still pretty sore and protested right after I sat down today to start typing. I didn’t really care right away, since I was going through my chapters, writing short summaries on the the virtual cards that were stuck on the virtual cork board. By scanning through my writing, I …

I am a little late with my progress report, but last night I just couldn’t write another word. All in all, I managed to get a little more than 9K yesterday, the highest word count for me on a single day. The prize was a stiff neck, tense shoulders…heck, everything hurt except maybe my toes. And The Cat took care of those (I tend to wriggle them if I concentrate on writing a lot).
But about 3K into yesterday’s word count I realized that I was absolutely, 100 percent stuck. I’ve …

I did it! I just completed my first ever NaNo, two weeks in advance! YAAAAAAY!
The official word count at 12:05 noon today is 50,005 words!
When I wanted to blog about my victory just a couple minutes earlier, I checked and discovered to my dismay that I was still 29 words short of the goal. So I added a sentence here and there, bringing the count up to 50,002. That was when my ego kicked in and whispered to me ‘If Jarsto can do pretty wordcounts, so can I’. The last …

This is not my day, really. I had planned for 6K words today, but up to now I just managed a lousy 4K. Finally, I had my characters in a pivotal scene, one which is extremely important to their relationship development and to show the character traits of the male MC. They got through that very well, better than I had anticipated. But the aftermath. *argh*
I like to think that the difficulties my characters were having in dealing with the situation were mirrored in my inability to put them into …

There, at least I managed a decent 2,356 words today. I am too tired for more. The past two weeks are getting to me: writing until a couple minutes before midnight, going to bed about 15-30 minutes later, getting up six hours later (and in the meantime being awoken at least once by The Cuddly Cat), working, getting home from work around 6 pm and then repeating the procedure. I am lacking so much sleep I can’t even put it into writing … literally, because I am quitting for today …

My NaNo story got me back – after I took a break yesterday to watch her Majesty’s most prominent agent survive his most current adventures, I took care of my own characters today again. They were pretty impatient and I just needed to hover with my fingers above the keyboard for them to run off with my story. Both my MC’s decided to add a little bit of story here and there and I let them have their will, as I will need their cooperation pretty soon once more. This …
