Al Gore speaks at UN conference

Last weekend Al Gore visited Poznan (Poland) to speak at the 14th United Nations Climate Change Conference and here’s his speech (video) as well as a transcript of the speech itself. Just wanted to get this out as long as it’s still relatively “fresh”; I’ll highlight the parts which I think are most important later.
Transcript taken from: http://blog.algore.com/

Obama wants to repower America!

If president-elect Barack Obama keeps only half the promises he makes in the weeks running up to him finally relieving the cowboy of his post, he will be an amazing president.

‘If you can create sufficient fear in your enemies, you may not have to fight them. Always remember that terror is also a form of communication.’
- Delenn, Babylon 5, »The Paragon of Animals«
While one may debate the outcome on US politics, one cannot deny that the terrorists reached their goal: they planted fear so deep inside …

Following the news closely I read in the New York Times online edition that Barack Obama has been officially declared the Democratic party’s candidate for this year’s election. By acclamation.
Now, I first read about this procedure in Dan Brown’s novel “Angel’s and Demons” (which is currently being filmed with Tom Hanks). The plot (- SPOILER WARNING - ): the pope is murdered and a terrorist threatens to evaporate the whole vatican. After lots of twists and turns the pope’s Camerlengo is made pope - by acclamation of the gathered cardinals.
